A Self Reflection

As a whole, writing research paper is really suffering for me.
Every step in writing research paper is somtimes hard,
you need to figure out what idea should be put in or out,
and need to make a survey to support your points.
That's realy make me tired out!
Besides,
I really appreciate this webblog acitivities except for the operation of this blog.
I used to adapt to it for the emtire semester, still can't figure it out.
Well, Google is a giant on the intenet.
But its product like this is really....poor,
that's make me a liitle bit disappointed.
And I have to say... it difinitely is NOT your fault!
I mean Doris and Grace.
However,
it's still a funny experience to use blog in teaching and studing.
Though I did not very interested in Google's blog.

My Argumentation Part

The follwing is my RP argumentation:
Cigarette, for some people, may be a necessity in their daily life. Some people smoke for relaxation or releasing emotions. Some smoke for expressing manliness or sexual appeal, and some just get into the habit of smoking. What’s more, some people even say that smoking can refresh them while tired out. Cigarette, in a sense, is like a sort of chronic drug. It may not kill a person in a short time but definitely it brings smokers and the people around them deadly harms or illness, lung cancer, for example. However, the harm smoking brings already became a serious problem in public health.Though some related laws already restrict the smoking areas for smokers, for further decreasing the influence of secondhand smoke and public health government should raise more taxes on cigarettes. The price of cigarettes may hence rise. Also it can reduce the customers’ desire for purchasing as well as the generation of secondhand smoke directly or indirectly.

About my data collection

First, I will go to design a questionnaire about tobacco tax and the secondhand smoke. This questionnaire may includes a part of open questions so as to obtain the ideas about how do common people think about the tobacco issue. And of course , the interviewees include smoker and non-smokers, men and women, youth and adults so that I can obtain a subjective views form the public. Also, I will go to look for the information about tobacco taxes of a few countries or areas and their actions on anti-tobacco and anti-secondhand smoke, and comparing them with Taiwan's. The information I choose may come from the online sources and library sources. Besides, I will try to compare other countries or areas laws and rules on tobacco control with Taiwan's in order to reflect the irrational situation of tobacco control of Taiwan. For one thing, to protect the public health. For another, to arouse people's idea on anti- tobacco. And teaching them the idea that the harm of tobacco production is more dangerous than you can imagine.

My RP Intro

Cigarette, for some people, may play a necessary role in their daily life. Also, many people do know that indeed cigarette is no good to anyone. However, the smoking population is still growing. For protecting the people who don't smoke, governments of many countries take measures to protect the non-smokers. Finding that to raise the taxes on cigarettes, though cause higher price, may be a better way to directly reduce the consumption on cigarettes. Since additional taxes increases the cost of sales and it will reflects the cost on the prices, finally higher prices decrease the smoker's will of purchasing. It may just an application of marketing principle, but it helps a lot in reducing the consumption of cigarettes. In addition, one great accessional effect is reducing the harm of secondhand smoke.

Some smoke for relaxation or releasing emotions, some smoke for expressing certain manliness or sex appeal, others merely get into a habit of smoking. However, what about the people beside those smokers? The cigarette harms is now one serious problem for public heath in the world, there are more than one billion smokers all over the world. And it was estimated that every year there are ten million people die of lung cancer caused by smoking. And some people's cancer comes from the people around them who smoke, that is, the serious harm of secondhand smoke.

Though some related laws already restrict the smoking areas and ages for smokers, for further decreasing the influence of secondhand smoke and public health, our government is supposed to raise more taxes on the cigarette. The price of cigarette may hence rise, also it can reduce the customers' desire for purchasing cigarette as well as the generation of secondhand smoke directly or indirectly. The article here is talking about the influence of the additional taxes on cigarette, even if the result of raising tax includes both positive and negative outcomes. The policy of raising tax on cigarette do helps public health a lot. Public health is one important public benefit, it should be prior to economic profits. Our government should takes this into consideration and determines to prohibit the harms of cigarette. After all, without healthy body no one can enjoy the economic profits.
